“The Church on Its Feet”
The Thessalonian church was in its infancy when Paul, Silas and Timothy were forced to leave because of an angry mob. Yet their tenderness toward these new believers stirred their hearts to write an epistle which would encourage this small church to be established in their relationship with the Lord and to walk in a manner worthy of the God who had called them into his kingdom. The first three chapters of 1 Thessalonians convey the heart of a pastor and his deep affection for a church just learning to stand on its feet.
In “The Church on Its Feet” we’ll have the opportunity to explore this affectionate letter describing the bold proclamation of the gospel that gave birth to small church in a big city. We’ll discover a church that became an example to other congregations around the world. And we will see how God’s people learn to stand fast and walk in a way that pleases the God that we serve.
