Jacob

Jacob’s life was characterized by deception. He deceived his father to obtain his brother’s blessing and was later tricked by Laban. Throughout the many ups and downs of his life, Jacob struggled to recognize God’s presence. Even so, God remained with Jacob—just as He remains with believers today. In “Jacob: Discerning God’s Presence”, we’ll walk through life with Jacob and his family—learning along the way how their story is like ours.

Our journey of discerning God’s presence mirrors Jacob’s; in his story of poor decisions and painful struggles we learn that God does not give up on people, and that His purposes are not dependent on us discerning His presence or acting upon His will. However, when we do respond in obedience, we experience the richness of his presence on the journey.
