Meet Our Elders

SAM HUITT:  My wife, Karen, and I have been attending DEFC since the fall of 1991.  I came to Christ as a college freshman through a Navigator Bible Study.  I enjoy spending time with my grandkids.

I desire that all of our actions will reflect glory to God and that our light would shine and that people would give glory to God.   I also desire for the body to be open, to be gracious and loving, and to support each other as we grow together.  “Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8.

SCOTT KACZINSKI:  My wife, Annette, and I have been attending DEFC since 2001.  I gave my life to Christ when I was 21 years old.  A friend shared the gospel with me.  It was the first time that I can recall hearing about God’s love for me.  I enjoy reading, music and sports.  I love spending time with my family. I also love people and love  talking with people.

My wife, Annette, and I lead The Truth Singers ministry which meets on Thursday nights.

My desire is for the people of this church to share the gospel with all in the community and beyond and for the people of this church to walk with the Lord and obey and serve Him with all of their heart.

BRIAN SCHMIDT:  My wife, Jane, and I  have three children all living in Ames now.  I came to Christ as a student at Iowa State University in 1974. As the overseer of Finance, I am doing the job of the finance deacon until we have a new deacon in January. This has been a challenging time in the last few months as I have had a new job as a county supervisor and learning the position of Elder. I look forward with all that God has planned for us in the coming days.

HARRY WEIGANDT:    My wife, Mary, and I have been apart of DEFC since 1991.  In 1969 my family started to attend church. Bible camp, new Christian friends, and seeing changed lives made me desire Christ in my life.  I was discipled by our pastor and accepted Christ.  I was baptized the same day as my mother and brother.  I enjoy farming, nature and spending time with my grandchildren.

I desire that DEFC would know the Lord Jesus and God’s will, that DEFC would grow and mature in His love and humility and that DEFC would go into our community serving God and fighting the good fight.  ” Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6
